Lifts – mobile lift platforms

Mobile lift platforms are included into lifting equipment and are intended for transporting loads – materials, products or persons at heights. They are mainly used in installing and construction works at the premises of employing institutions and outdoor works. Such a device consists of a suspended platform or gondola fenced by railings which are connected with hoists or lifted by jacks. They are powered by diesel, electricity or battery. Mobile lift platforms are divided into self-propelled and stationary.

In accordance with the classification of the Bureau of Technical Inspection (Urząd Dozoru Technicznego) the following categories of mobile lift platforms are distinguished:

  • II P – hanging, stationary and column platforms
  • I P – slow-running scissor lifts, self-propelled cherry pickers, towed mobile lift platforms mounted to vehicles

Cherry pickers and scissor lifts are the most popular.

The scissor lift consists of linked, folding supports in a criss-cross „X” pattern and this is where its name derives from as well as the platform where loads are placed and the base. Scissor lifts are usually used in inhouse transport, e.g. in lifting vehicles, construction materials, person at a desired height in order to carry out installation, construction and finishing works. These are devices of various parameters – dimensions, maximum working load, lifting capacity and this why they can be individually adjusted to the type of necessary works.

The cherry picker is a device mounted mainly to the back of large vehicles or self-propelled which is equipped with wheels (these may be ATV wheels for work over difficult ground). Such types of devices are mainly used outdoors in installation, construction and finishing or decorative works. The gondola of the lift is adjusted to the reaching arm which can be manipulated in various directions and extended to a specific range.

In order to operate mobile lifting platforms a UDT licence is required. These devices are subject to technical inspection. To obtain an appropriate certificate the training for mobile lift platforms must be completed. After that the participant take the exam before the commission of the Bureau of Technical Inspection (Urząd Dozoru Technicznego).

We kindly invite you to take part in our trainings, thanks to which you can find out how to operate scissor lifts and cherry pickers as well as different types of mobile lift platforms. Out trainings are held in Warsaw, Cracow, Bielsko-Biała and Katowice in the open form (available for anyone) and for closed groups. The price is dependent on the number of participants.
